The Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA®) is the world’s largest international medical meeting. The meeting is a premier event for physicians sharing medical knowledge with one another.
Facts about the meeting include:
- Six days of educational programs for radiologists, radiation oncologists, physicists in medicine and allied health care professionals;
- Professional registration is up 1% compared with 2007; total number of attendees pre-registered for RSNA 2008 is up 2% compared with 2007;
- For RSNA 2008, the Society has secured more than 100,000 room nights at 76 downtown Chicago hotels; Spouse/guest pre-registration is up 6% compared with last year’s level;
- 726 technical exhibits will occupy 516,100 square feet;
- 113 (16%) of the exhibitors are first-time exhibitors at RSNA;
- Total square footage of exhibit space is down 4% from last year’s total of 535,300 square feet;
- Attendees will contribute nearly $127 million to Chicago’s economy;
- 1,803 scientific papers in 16 subspecialties: breast imaging; cardiac; chest; emergency radiology; gastrointestinal; genitourinary; health services, policy and research; molecular imaging; musculoskeletal; neuroradiology/head and neck; nuclear medicine; pediatric; physics; radiation oncology and radiobiology; radiology informatics; and vascular and interventional;
- 252 refresher courses and 86 multisessions;
- 1,667 education exhibits and 657 scientific posters will be featured in the Lakeside Learning Center.
