OAK BROOK, Ill. (October 14, 2019) – The Association of University Radiologists (AUR) announced the 2019 GE Radiology Research Academic Fellowship (GERRAF) recipients at its 67th Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland in April 2019.
The incoming Fellows are:
- Hediyeh Baradaran, MD, University of Utah Health, Development and Assessment of a Standardized Reporting Mechanism for Carotid Plaque Characteristics
- Resmi A. Charalel, MD, Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Early Liver Cancer: Understanding Outcomes through Treatment Received, Social Determinants and Access to Care
- Stuart L. Cohen, MD, Northwell Health, Determining the Optimal Diagnostic Strategy for Pregnant Women with Suspicion of Pulmonary Embolism
- Premal Trivedi, MD, University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Center, Can We Bridge the Gap? Creating an Evidence-based Intervention for Reducing Racial Inequity in Survival Following Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic shunt (TIPS) for Variceal Bleeding
The GERRAF program was initiated in 1992 to help meet the scholarly and research support needs of radiology. The specific purpose of the GERRAF Award is to bring the benefits of radiological advances to medical practice and the public. The mission is twofold. First, it is to develop a cadre of academic radiologists trained in patient-oriented and health services research and demonstrate the value of such training to the field of radiology. Second, it is to provide an opportunity for a critical mass of young radiologists from a wide geographic distribution of academic health centers to receive exceptional training in clinical research methodology. The Fellowship also serves to develop the academic careers of its recipients through a program of mentoring and networking, each being a key element of professional success.

AUR is an association of over 2,000 academic radiologists, residents, and fellows, inspiring and educating the academic radiology community through collaboration and innovation in teaching, research, management, and leadership. The Association is based in Oak Brook, Ill. (AUR.org)
